The open doors at the Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry CAS (IMC) is an annual event organized in the first half of November, as part of the Week of Science and Technology of the Czech Academy of Sciences.
The main target group of the open doors programme is high-school students. However, the entire public is welcome, as well as neighbours living near the Institute, families and chemistry, physics and biology fans. Moreover, the IMC building is part of the cultural heritage of the Czech Republic from an architectural point of view. This is why numerous visitors come to appreciate the architecture not only from the outside but also from the inside.
The open doors programme covers excursions to laboratories, popular interactive lectures on interesting polymers, movies on the history of the Institute, etc. We welcome you to come and enjoy the world of polymer research.
The polymeric drug carrier, which is to deliver the anticancer drug to the tumour site without damaging the healthy tissues during transport by the organism. After evaporation of the organic solvent under vacuum it forms small, glassy fragments at the bottom of the spherical flask. This makes it possible for the naked eye to detect if the polymer is well dried.
