Novel synthetic route of semi-conducting polymer preparation for various applications

Simple and reliable methods for synthesizing conjugated polymers with controllable morphologies and properties are highly desirable for device applications. Here, we present a facile acid-assisted polymerization method that produces conjugated polymers as a stable suspension at room temperature with high yield. The suspension can be easily deposited onto various surfaces by solvent evaporation, enabling applications ranging from biosensors to energy storage materials. Notably, the self-polymerization proceeds without detectable byproducts, making the process environmentally friendly.
