TopicCharacterization of materials based on the conducting polymers by advanced spectroscopic methods
AnnotationThe proposed theme includes the preparation of various materials based on conducting polymers, such as polyaniline or polypyrrole, with the goal to control their molecular structure and its physical properties, e.g., conductivity. Their molecular structure will be studied by advanced methods of Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) and Raman spectroscopies. FTIR transmission techniques will be applied to powders and thin films, as well as various reflection techniques (ATR, specular and diffusion reflection), and the spectra will also be recorded in situ in rapid-scan mode, in photoacoustic cell, or with the help of FTIR microscope. Raman scattering will be analyzed when using various excitation lasers, the mapping with the help of Raman microscope and surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) will also be included. The emphasis will be given to the formation of supramolecular nanostructures. The generation of oligomers, the control of their fraction and their participation on the organization phenonema will also be investigated. The analysis of the intermolecular interactions based on hydrogen bonding or plasmonic interaction with noble metals, will be performed.
