Development of Polystyrene Microparticles as a Structural Templates for the Aerogels Preparation

In this project, we aim to develop various monodisperse polystyrene microparticles ranging in size from 5 to 20 µm, which would further serve as structural templates for the preparation of porous ultra-low density aerogels. For this purpose, the conditions of dispersion polymerization were first optimized to prepare 6 µm polystyrene microparticles with a very narrow size distribution. The prepared particles were further used for the successful preparation of the ultra-low density aerogels.
