History of our conferences
The Institute has a long, distinguished history of organizing polymer conferences.
The three macromolecular conferences of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC), which were held in Prague, are especially noteworthy.
The first IUPAC Macromolecular Symposium was held in Prague in 1957, thanks to the strong personality of the innovative Czech scientist Professor Otto Wichterle. Because of the strong impact of the first conference, the IUPAC Macromolecular Symposium was held again in Prague in 1967. Prague hosted this event for the third, lucky time in 1992.
