TopicNew polymeric materials for membrane processes
AnnotationThe membrane processes belong to new emerging technologies – their advantages are low energy consumption, reliability, and they are environmentally friendly. Polymer membranes are suitable for separation of gases and vapors based on sieve effect – different gases diffuse through polymers in different rate. Crucial factors for separation efficiency are both chemical structure and membrane morphology. In this way we have discovered that polymer foams, as multiple membrane systems, are selective “adsorbers” of gases. The concept was petented and has been studied.
