TopicSelf-assembly studies of triblock copolymers based on poly(2-alkyl-2-oxazolines)
AnnotationRecently, new amphiphilic triblock copolymers were developed that are more complex then conventional diblock copolymer amphiphiles. These copolymers are based on hydrophilic poly(2-methyl-2-oxazoline), hydrophobic poly(2-octyl-2-oxazoline), and fluorophilic poly(2-fluorooctyl-2-oxazoline). Because of their structural similarity to polypeptides, polyoxazolines are intended forfuture use in various biomedical applications, in particular because their self-association behavior is temperature dependent in the physiological range.Understanding the aqueous self-assembly behaviour of these amphiphilic systems is significantly more challenging compared to diblock copolymer amphyphiles. The project will be devoted to the investigation of triblock copolymers based on poly(2-oxazolines) by means of isothermal titration calorimetry, small angle X-ray/ neutron and light scattering.
