TopicPolymer drug conjugates overcoming multidrug resistance.
AnnotationLow efficacy or failure of anticancer treatment is often associated with overexpression of transporters causing the development of a multidrug resistance (MDR). Possibility how to overcome the MDR is usage of polymer carriers enabling simultaneously transport biologically active compound (drug) and MDR transporter inhibitors to desired location and there by controlled way release the active drug and simultaneously inhibit the MDR transporters. The aim of a thesis is a design of new polymer carriers bearing biologically active compound and inhibitors, their synthesis and study of relationship between structure, physico-chemical and biological properties. The main focus of the thesis will be in organic and polymer synthesis and in cooperation with biologist testing these compounds.
