Career
Michal Ilavsky was born in the Czechoslovakia and obtained his MSc degree from the Czech Technical University in Prague (1962), PhD degree in 1966 from the Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry, Czechoslovak Academy of  Sciences. The DSc degree obtained from the Charles University in 1987. He was appointed at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University as Associate Professor (1995) and Full Professor (1998). He was Visiting Research Fellow, Institute of Organometallic Compounds, Academy of Sciences, Moscow, USSR (1964-1965); Invited Scientist, Department of Chemistry, Syracuse University, Syracuse, N.Y., USA (1969-1970); Visiting Professor, Max-Planck-Institut für Polymer Forschung, Mainz, BRD (1990); Visiting Professor, Universität Ulm, Ulm, BRD (1991) and Visiting Professor, Delft University of Technology, Delft, Netherlands (1992-1993). He is Member of Committee of International Network Group, Czech Group of Rheology, Scientific Committee of Czech Academy of Sciences and Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Committee of the Czech Network Group, Czech Society for Science and Technology and Committee for awarding PhD degrees at Charles University in Chemical Physics, Czech Learned Society.
Major awards and honors 
Major Awards: 1971, 1981 - Prize of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences, 2001 - Prize of the Czech Learned Society. 

He published over 200 original papers and presented over 220 lectures and communications at international and domestic conferences from the field of formation, structure and physical properties of polymers, mainly polymer networks; his SCI (without autocitations) is larger than 2000.
