Equipment - Supramolecular Polymer Systems

Our Department is equipped with high quality laboratory equipment for polymer synthesis, preparation of supramolecular systems and analysis of both.

There are 7 commercial and custom-built static and dynamic light scattering instruments including ALV 6000, Zetasizer Nano a Mastersizer 3000 available at our Department that besides routine measurements offer several advanced features:

  • Measurement in an extremely broad temperature range from –130 to 400 °C
  • Measurement in infrared region (980 nm) for systems absorbing light in the visible range
  • Measurement in electric field for determination of electrophoretic mobility and zeta potential of nanoparticles, which determines for example their colloid stability
  • Measurement of light scattering under ionizing radiation
  • Measurement of particles from units of nanometres to units of millimetres

In addition to the wide spectrum of scattering methods, a number of other analytical equipment is also available:

  • Particle tracking analysis instrument Nanosight for tracking of number and size distribution of particles
  • Confocal microscope with capability of fluorescence measurements
  • Electron paramagnetic resonance (Bruker) including imaging technique ESRI
  • Viscosimeter
  • Differential refractometer for measuring of increment of the refractive index (PSS)
  • Circular polarimeter
  • UV-VIS spectrophotometer with Peltier temperature controller
  • Liquid chromatograph GPC Ultimate 3000 (Thermo-Fisher) with radiodetector and multiangle light scattering detector
  • Isothermal titration calorimeter

The Department is equipped with specialized equipment for polymer synthesis and preparation of supramolecular polymer systems. This includes:

  • Flow box
  • Nano Spray Dryer B-90
  • Instrument for microwave synthesis
  • Preparative chromatograph

Fully equipped licensed radionuclide laboratory for synthesis of radiopolymers and their characterization is also available. It is equipped with following equipment:

  • Biomolecular 2D imager Typhoon FLA 9500
  • Portable contamination monitor MicroCont II
  • Surface radiation contamination monitor RDS-80
  • Well isolation chamber VDC-404
  • NaI(TI) well detector
  • Liquid scintillation counter Triathler
  • Shakers and other laboratory equipment
