TopicSynthesis of well-defined polymeric systems for drug delivery
AnnotationPolymeric drug carriers are one of the most versatile delivery system for a wide range of drugs. By optimizing the polymer drug carrier design, improvement of the drug pharmacokinetics, prolonged drug circulation, improved tumor uptake, reduced drug toxicity and immunogenicity and solubilization of water-insoluble drugs can be achieved. High molecular weight drug delivery systems are most promising candidates for futher evaluation. One of the biggest disadvantage of this carriers is the nondegradability and potent accumulation of the polymers in organism. The aim of this project will be synthesis of hydrophilic polymeric systems with controled polymerization technique, for ex. RAFT. Mostly synthesis of a high-molecular weight polymeric systems will be studied. These systems will be bioresponsible, they should release the drug just on site of action followed by degradation of the carrier. Project will be solved in cooperation with local and foreign biologically oriented partners.
