Tomáš Etrych Appointed Member of the Board of the Czech Health Research Council

Tomáš Etrych, Director of the Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry of the Czech Academy of Sciences, became a member of the Board of the Czech Health Research Council with effect from 1 July 2026.

The Czech Health Research Council is a governmental organisation operating under the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic. Its main mission is to support applied health research. The Council prepares public funding programmes, organises public competitions for research and development projects, evaluates research proposals and their outcomes, and contributes to coordinating the Czech Republic's participation in European partnerships in the field of health research.

Tomáš Etrych has been cooperating with the Czech Health Research Council for many years as both principal investigator and co-investigator of research projects. He also previously served as a member of the Biomedical Technologies evaluation panel. In his new role as a member of the Board, he aims to draw on his experience in the development of polymer biomaterials and to promote high-quality preclinical research.

Commenting on his appointment, Tomáš Etrych said: "I am pleased to have been invited to become a member of the Board of the Czech Health Research Council. My research focuses on the development of new drug delivery systems based on our polymer biomaterials. Within the Board, I would like to focus on supporting preclinical research, which is essential for validating the potential of new medicines, technologies, and materials before they advance to clinical testing. I have been working with the Czech Health Research Council for many years, so it is fair to say that I know the Council well, and the Council knows me."
