Scientist in Optoelectronics and Photonics of Organic Materials

Opened research scientist position in the Department of Optoelectronics and Photonics of Organic Materials in the Institute of Macromolecular chemistry AS CR v.v.i, Heyrovskeho sq.2, Prague 6, Czech Republic. Tender for the position is in agreement with law n. 283/1992 Sb. about Czech Academy of Sciences amended by act n. 420/2005 Sb.

Job Summary: Department of Polymers for Optoelectronics and Photonics is searching for a highly motivated, productive, and collaborative team member, who will be responsible for the research and development in the area of ultrafast time-resolved optical spectroscopy and nonlinear optical properties of new organic and hybrid organic-inorganic materials and functional structures for organic optoelectronics  and photonics (sensors, memories, OFETs, OPVs, OLEDs, biophotonics).

In addition of joining running projects new ideas and suggestions of own projects for research in the specified area will be also appreciated.

Job details

The Department of Polymers for Optoelectronics and Photonics develops new polymer and composite materials for electronic and optoelectronic active components. It is focused especially on organic photovoltaic cells, light-emitting diodes, electrical and optical sensors and field-effect transistors (FET) for flexible printed electronics. The aim is to prepare these electronic components from soluble derivatives of semiconducting or conducting polymers using solution casting or printing techniques.

The basic research is focused on the phenomena of generation, transport and recombination of free charge carriers, charge transfer on the interface of materials, injection of charge from electrodes, photochromic transformation and on plasmonic phenomena in polymer composites with metal nanoparticles. The laboratory is engaged in the concept of molecular electronics, both on the experimental and theoretical level. The candidate should contribute to the research with his experimental work using time resolved optical spectroscopy and other optical techniques based on ultrashort laser pulses (including nonlinear optical phenomena) and possibly develop new research direction within electronics and photonics of polymers, biomolecules and other organic compounds. An experienced researcher is preferred but application from a first stage scientist after PhD with a good publication record will be also considered.

The job position is permanent; it is subjected to a three-month probation period and evaluation after first year of the contract.

Required: PhD degree in physics specialized on optoelectronics or physical electronics, or in physical chemistry specialized on time-resolved optical spectroscopy. English communication skills. Practical experience with lasers and previous postdoctoral position or relevant publication record achieved during the PhD study is in favor of the candidate.
