AnnotationArtificial fibrin networks with attached biorecognition elements for bioanalytical methods and tissue engineering. A new technique developed in the Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry AS CR makes it possible to coat surface of any object with a fibrin layer of tunable thickness and structure. A goal of the work is to create artificial interfaces between synthetic surfaces and biological environment that would minimize undesirable interactions with biological fluids and cells and provide a specific biological activity. The work will include the preparation of fibrin network with various morphology, the study of their interactions with blood plasma, blood, and cells, and the immobilization of specific bioreceptors, e.g., antibodies, antigens, and cell-interacting proteins and peptides. Selected coatings will be tested in SPR biosensors and for creation of endothelium on surface of blood vessel grafts in collaboration with the Institute of Physiology AS CR. The topic has been included in two submitted European Integrated Projects and in the program of Biotechnology and Biomedicine Centre of Academy of Sciences CR and Charles University, Prague that would start with financial support from EU in the year 2014.
