TopicUpgrade of thermoset composites via self assembled structures based on modified carbon nanoplatelets
AnnotationThe research is focused on upgrading fibrous composite materials with epoxy matrix by elimination of fibre buckling in compressive load and interlaminar cracking. This will be based on formation of multiscale composites with rigid tough hierarchical interface utilizing unique features of carbon-nanoplatelets (CN) with targeted modifications. The aim is application of oligomer/polymer chain-grafted CN to form self-assembled hard/soft nature-mimicking structures for simultaneous matrix modification and the rigid tough interphase creation. The objective is understanding of the morphological potential of modified CN in fibrous composites, structure–properties relationships and formation of models of micromechanical behaviour.
